Each summer, SC Exhibitions hosts an international touring exhibition in Munich’s Olympic Park. For the 2019 season, “Lascaux: Visual Worlds of the Ice Age” was on display in the Small Olympic Hall (not a sports hall but an exhibition centre) in Munich, from April to September. The exhibition inspired us to colourize historic photographs from the time of the discovery in the 1940s both as additional press photos and as content for our social media channels. Furthermore, we invited filmmaker and curator René Kästner and 10 international artists to reflect on the wall paintings of our ancestors and to create an exhibition and poster series for the exhibition’s gift shop. The art created – the hand-coloured photos as well the artworks – turned out so nicely that we would like to share both projects with you in our annual magazine.

Designer Michael Balgavy from Vienna created the logo and poster for “Lascaux,” SC Exhibitions’ seventh Summer Exhibition in Munich.
